I can’t believe it almost took me a year to get this book done. Mirror Earth 3 is finally becoming a reality.
So what was the delay?
Numerous things, as usual in modern life. A new job, problems with my Dad and his health (he’s 94 and his mind is slipping away rapidly), to mention just a few. Also keeping the story line intact, and keeping all the characters, places and facts from the previous books in place took up a lot of time. Not to mention the corners I wrote myself into and had to find a way out of (through imagination and rewriting complete chapters…)
But now it’s done, edited and I’m working on creating the actual files that become books. Making the e-book is the least effort so that will be done and available quite soon, perhaps even at the end of the week. Let’s hope so, because I know many of you are waiting for that one. And truth be told: so am I!
So now it’s about time that I divulge the proper title of the book and show you the cover that I designed for it. Oh – the cover. That was quite the trip also. Can you believe how difficult it can be to find good images for a cover? By which I mean images that aren’t only good-looking but that you can actually get permission for to use? Remember, not everything that is out on the internet is yours for the grab-and-use. There are things like copyright to remember.
Mirror Earth Network.
There you have it. That’s the title of the third Mirror Earth book. And here is the cover:
I’m proud of it. It shows so much of the story. At this point I already want to thank Will Forest for his help in making this book better through his edits and tips, Andy Golub for allowing me to use one of his bodypaint images on the cover, and Maurice “Mo” Smith for the same.
And thank you, everyone out there waiting, for your patience. Rushing a project like this is never going to make anything better.
I’ll do what I can to (at least) get the e-books out soonest. Paperbacks always require a little more work…
Exactly that. Last month I participated in “Nanowrimo” (NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth). A mad race against yourself to write a novel in a month. I love challenges like that. Note that I didn’t write a naturist novel, my alter ego (ehem) writes more mainstream fantasy and science fiction.
In doing so (I almost wrote 300 pages) I lost track of where I was going in the chapter I was writing for Mirror Earth 3. Sarah (you’ll need to know Mirror Earth and Mirror Earth 2 to know who Sarah is) was going to do something. When I got back to the scene after November I stared at the words and my mind went ‘all righty then… what were you going to do here?’
This means that I still dislike my mind because I have no answer for it.
The scene was well over one page already but no matter how long I looked at it, read it, thought about it… nothing popped up. Well bugger, as they say in England. I trashed the scene, read back to where things were still making sense and sat down to compose a completely new twist to the chapter.
It’s not the first time.
I’ve had this happen before because I’ve done Nanowrimo more than once. That doesn’t mean I’m getting used to it. Each time I promise myself to be more careful and to take better notes on where I’m going with a scene, and each time I fall into the same pit.
You’d think I’d have learnt after 7 years, right? Well, wrong. Next time though. I’m sure. I think. 😀
The good thing about happenings like this is that the new scene usually is better than the one that I discarded. So far it looks like it. I threw out 400 words and I have regenerated 300 fresh ones yesterday. Words that make someone freak out (in chapter 31) over…. oh, wait, I shouldn’t divulge that.
I’ll get back to Mirror Earth 3 today. And to Naked Crow 7, another story I lost touch with, but that hasn’t grown large yet. I can pick that up again after browsing the last few chapters. I just need to figure out who got shot there, and how many people. (Yes, there is some actual shooting of people happening in Naked Crow 7. Trust me. I’ve made / will make it happen.)
As you see, it’s not even numbered 1, as I had no idea that the book would become so popular that more of them would follow. Book 6 is currently in editing and we’re making good progress.
The strange thing is that these first 6 books came out of my head easily. Since a while I’ve been thinking about another book in the series. Bad for the followers of the blonde Shaman: so far nothing has come up.
This doesn’t mean the series will come to an end here. I just need a good idea to put into a follow-up book. As long as that isn’t there, the book won’t happen. I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s worth the wait to get a worthy next book in a good series, even if that means it takes a while before it comes out.
For now I’m working on Mirror Earth 3 and that will have some surprising stuff for everyone, I’m quite sure of that. We’ll meet Roger and Elisabeth again, and Professor Holger. There’s some travel involved so far (for the people on one of the Earths, not for me yet alas!) and discovery upon discovery will be unveiled.
I had a good ‘talk’ with fellow writer Will Forest, on Twitter known as NudeScribe, and that talk gave me a lot of great input to incorporate into this new story. Again this proves that a person never writes a book alone. The help, input, feedback and even moral support of others are very important.
Yes. I’ve mentioned this before. The story’s written; I’m currently reworking it. This story was difficult to write. It took a while and also a lot of research. I can only hope it paid off. Let me at least share something of it with you.
This is what you can expect to see once the book’s published. As I’m still reworking it, that means it won’t be soon. I know, this is teasing. Deal with it. 😉
As some of you know I’m working on the third book of Mirror Earth. As usual I don’t have the foggiest idea what will happen once I’ve determined the main story line.
I never know the details of what I’m going to do. I’ve tried making good and thorough plans for stories and those always go belly up unless they fall flat on their face.
So I was writing this and that and here and there, and then it was time to go to work. Got dressed, into the car and off I went. Along the way I was thinking about what I’d just done and I had this odd idea which I’m not going to tell you or you won’t need to read the book and then I’ve written it for nothing so forget that.
Anyway, at work I took a few moments to Google what I had thought up and blimey, buster, it fit the story perfectly!
It’s like clockwork clicking together its cogs and sounding the bell at the right time. I was totally stunned about that. Sometimes I have to twist some detail’s arm a bit to cooperate but this just worked.
It has to do with this thing on the right. That’s all I’m going to tell you about it. If you know what this is then I congratulate you on knowing things. Well done indeed.
I’ll now continue working on Mirror Earth 3, for which I don’t have a proper title yet. That’s okay though. It’s not a proper book yet either. It will come.
Yes! It’s out and ready for whoever has been waiting for it.
In this sequel to “Mirror Earth”, Elisabeth and Roger live happy lives on the other Earth. They are still adjusting, but there are many people around to help them along. Denise, Walter, Jane and Sarah are back on their home Earth. Due to what’s called the failure of the time-fluxer project things aren’t that great. The scientists go on because they have to. Unfortunately they only have each other to fall back on because Professor Holger has little love left for them. Everyone thinks the troubles with the time-fluxer are over. It’s time to think again.
It’s done, arranged, planned, stripped of any clothing that’s not needed.
I have a date for Mirror Earth Revisited. On November 23rd, 2016 of this year the e-book will become available at all the usual places. (I’m talking about Amazon.anywhere, Smashwords, Apple iTunes, Barnes&Noble and so on.)
Advance notice: start saving 299 pennies. I’ve priced this book the same as Mirror Earth, quite low, as to make it available to as many people as possible.
I know. I’m great like that. Don’t growl if your local outlet asks a little bit more. That is due to taxes and stuff and therefore out of my control. And wallet, unfortunately…
Since we’re all waiting for the new book (you for it to come out, me for the print proof) let me treat you to the back cover text!

I’m no longer going to keep you waiting. Until now I’ve managed to ‘sit’ on the cover for Mirror Earth Revisited but today’s the day I’m going to let you see it.
That’s what you’ll have to be happy with for now. I’m still working on getting the actual (e-)books created and looking decent. I hope to be ready for the e-book launch in a few weeks. The paperback demands more work and more waiting (once the files for that are okay I want to see a proof print which takes a while to get here) but that will come too. Promise.
